September 2009 - 40th Birthday celebrations
As part of Hester Clarke's Ruby Celebrations, we ran a competition for a ruby and diamond pendant.
The following article was taken from The Bucks Herald
Hester Clarke - County Jewellers came into being on Septempber 1, 1969 when Lawson Clarke took over the shop then in Temple Street - from Raymond and Percy Hester.
Christopher Clarke the chairman, son of Lawson, said "Mr Raymond Hester himself was 80-something and was looking to find someone to take over so he could retire. My father and Mr Hester took their exams at the same time back in 1940 and he got in touch with him and did the deal".
The shop has remained a private family business with Christopher Clarke's two daughters Nicola and Julia also Directors at the shop, now in Cambridge Street.
Mr Clarke said the jewellers had remained sucessful because of the experience and training which had been gained over such a long time, adding that his shop was one of only a handful of independent businesses remaining in Aylesbury town centre.
Hester Clarke, which has 10 staff, is celebrating a competition with a £1000 ruby diamond
pendant as the prize. It also sent vouchers out to customers on its mailing list and gave out slices of a giant birthday cake to visitors on September 1st.

June 2009 – Pearl Day
We held a fabulous Pearl day at our store in Cambridge Street, Aylesbury.
Our Pearl merchant, Trevor, came with his extensive stock of beautiful Cultured and Freshwater Cultured Pearls. His wife Julie could string purchases in front of your very eyes.
Sushi and Saké (Japanese rice wine) were served all day by a lady in traditional Japanese Kimono.
