Hallmarking

What is Hallmarking?

The hallmark is one of the oldest forms of consumer protection in the world, protecting the British consumer for over 700 years. Since 1300, Jewellery sold within the United Kingdom that is described as gold, silver, platinum or palladium must have a hallmark to guarantee its authenticity and its quality.

All items sold by us conform to the Hallmarking Act 1973, meaning that each piece of Jewellery of a certain weight is stamped with a set of component marks, guaranteeing that it conforms to all legal standards of purity.

Each hallmark means that the piece has been independently tested and verified by an Assay office, and you can purchase safe in the knowledge that your Jewellery is exactly as described.
